Nick Furi's Odds & Ends Banner 2013 FinalWonder Woman – Everyone’s favourite Amazonian Princess has finally found a huge ally in Warner Bros new CEO Kevin Tsujihara, who stated bluntly, “…We need to get Wonder Woman on the big screen or TV.” Nothing will appear immediately, of course, but long time WW fans (Jose, I’m looking at you) are one step closer to hopefully seeing Princess Diana receive the attention and affection she deserves. Hey, Warner Bros (because I know you’re reading this)… Make whatever you’ve got planned awesome! We’ve waited this long, and we’re willing to wait a little longer for quality. Everybody at IMJ will also owe you a huge favor if you promise to keep director Zack Snyder (and his morose, manscaped Superdude) FAR AWAY from this project. Many thanks in advance. [THR]

Film – The movie industry is stacked high with comic book creators of all stripes and skill sets selling the rights to their properties. Nathan Edmondson’s Who is Jake Ellis? is the latest significant sale– with FOX recently picking up the project. Whether the movie ever gets made is anyone’s guess, but 4-time Harry Potter director David Yates is already attached. He did a great job on the two-part Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows (and 2 other Potter films), so there’s certainly no reason to release a Ben Affleck-sized sigh of despair when hearing this news. [THR]

Collectibles – I mentioned some New York Comic Con Exclusives last week, but here’s a full list of the goodies attendees can expect to see this weekend. (eBay buyers will sadly have to wait until Sunday night or Monday morning.) Hit the link to check them all out. Without a doubt, my two favourite items are Funko POP’s Stan Lee and Walter White vinyl figures. [Tompop]

Film – After George Lucas sold LucasFilm to Disney, he seemed to signal his readiness to pass the Star Wars torch to a new generation of filmmakers. Now sources reveal he’s been “constantly” talking to director J.J. Abrams about Episode VII. Given Lucas’ recent shit ass additions to the Star Wars film canon, I’m left wondering if this is a positive development. Sadly, the Lucas who created/inspired such a magical world doesn’t seem to be home anymore. Smart money hopes these talks are just two sci-fi nerds chewing the fat… And Abrams stays determined to keep his own vision for the movie intact. May the Force be with You, JJ. [Collider]

Manga – Viz Media’s Weekly Shonen Jump is adding Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign to its line-up. While the story seems to have an interesting premise (A virus kills all adults– and the remaining children are enslaved by vampires), it also sounds like a typical battle manga. After 8 Million Twilight movies, you could sufficiently argue the whole Vampire genre has been run into the ground… Then again, if there’s a medium that can revive it– it’s manga. Baby Awesomeness! – I wouldn’t normally hype something like this on IMJ, but I recently became an Uncle… So this awesome item is going to be purchased HERE . Check out all these geeky, handmade onesies! I think I’m leaning toward the 10th Doctor Outfit myself!  [The Mary Sue]

Comics – Disney’s acquisition of Marvel has spawned a new comic book imprint with a strange new name: Disney Kingdoms. The first 5-issue mini-series is based on Seekers of the Weird— a never realized theme park attraction. Hmmm… Do you think there’s any chance Disney’s newfound interest in comics will finally force some execs to discover– and then correct– some of the more unappealing behavior currently in fashion with certain Marvel creators and editors? I highly doubt it, but hey… I can dream, can’t I? [Superhero Hype]

The Stage – What do actors who play iconic roles do when their TV shows end… Or they decide to leave? If you’re Bryan Cranston or Matt Smith, you take to the stage. Cranston will hit Broadway with All the Waya play about former US President Lyndon B. Johnson. Smith is going in a completely different direction, toplining a musical version of American Psycho. If you’re in New York or London, be on the lookout to catch these two in an entirely new way. Personally, I can’t wait to hear Smith sing a ditty about Patrick Bateman’s morning facial routine or his need to return some video tapes. I refuse to believe I am alone in this desire. [/Film]

YouTube Prank – In the following video, watch regular people react– as they witness telekinesis for the first time. The set ups and stunts are pretty awesome… With the video’s inspiration coming from the new Carrie film. Damn you, viral marketing… You got me again!!

Anime – For anyone who abhors subtitles in their Anime, the Evangelion 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo English dub is on the way. It is set to premiere at NYCC on Oct 11 (Hey! That’s today!) So if you are there tonight, check out Main Stage 1-D at 8:00pm to watch the 3rd installment of this remake of the great anime. [Funimation]

Comics – Here’s more news that would upset Ian if I didn’t share: Check out this pretty amazing trailer for Afterlife with Archie. I’m glad I was able to snag my copy, since the trailer looks mega interesting and Issue #1 has already sold out. If you haven’t got yours, try to beg, borrow or steal one while you still can! [Deadline]

Television – My favourite comedy duo just received the green light for a 10 episode TV Show. Garfunkel and Oats— aka Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci— will star in a half hour IFC comedy focusing on their personal and professional lives. These two create tremendously funny songs, so I hope the humour translates into a fantastic show. To get a good understanding of why I love them, here’s my favourites. FYI: Video is NSFW.

Film Related – With The Fifth Estate set to open soon, it seems as good a time as any for Wikileaks creator Julian Assange to condemn the film– by publishing a letter he sent to actor Benedict Cumberbatch. Assange assails virtually every aspect of the movie– calling it one-sided and guilty of warping the truth behind certain individuals’ true motives and intentions. Cumberbatch wanted to meet the Wikileaks creator before filming began, but his request was declined. Read the letter in full by hitting the link. [WikiLeaks]

Television Mini Rant – Apparently, not everyone enjoyed the finale of Breaking Bad. I didn’t realize such a negative reaction was even possible, but director Oliver Stone claims the series’ last 15 minutes is nothing but “fantasy violence.” Um… Ok… While I don’t think Bad impresario Vince Gilligan was going for absolute “real world” authenticity (Does any FICTION creator do that?)… I do believe he trained his focus on bringing Walter White’s journey to its most logical, satisfying conclusion. Stone will have none of that. He claims fantasy violence has, “…infected the American culture; you young people believe all of this shit! Batman and Superman, you’ve lost your minds, and you don’t even know it!” Weird thoughts coming from the man who directed such “fantasy violence” fests like Natural Born Killers and Savages. If there ever was a pot calling a kettle black… [Deadline]

Comics – Browncoats will be happy to know more Firefly/Serenity comic book adventures are on the way. The new six issue mini, Serenity – Leaves on the Wind, has the potential to turn into an ongoing series– should sales warrant. Buffy comic artist Georges Jeanty joins scripter Zack Whedon for the ride. Should we all start sending them issues of Angel & Faith now?… Because that’s the only Joss Whedon property worth a damn at Dark Horse these days. [Nerdist]

Artist Showcase – This new feature won’t pop up every week… But as I scour the interwebs for news articles, I sometimes come across some awesome artists. That’s how I stumbled upon Chris (aka sup3rs3d3d) from DeviantArt. His sculptures kick serious ass! (If there was only some way we could get this guy to replace the grunts “sculpting” those mostly terrible DC Direct statues.) From what I’ve seen, Chris seems to gravitate toward buff, muscular characters. When looking at his earlier stuff, you can tell he’s still learning his craft… And he’s making dramatic progress! See what I mean by definitely checking out his DeviantArt page. While you wait for the link to load, this Gray Hulk sculpt is my favourite of the group. [DeviantArt]
